英国爵位分几级

欧洲爵位分为公爵，侯爵，伯爵，子爵，男爵。几乎每年除夕，英国皇室都公布一份名单，颁布年度荣获英王或女王封勋授爵或颁赠奖章的人员。英国封爵起源于14世纪中叶。始创于1350年的“嘉德勋衔”至今仍是英国历史最悠久、地位最高的勋位。

英国勋衔可以分三大类：一是皇族勋位（royal orders)，赐封予皇族或最高级的贵族（安妮公主之类）；二是贵族勋位（noble or family orders)，赐予一般贵族（该隐那一级的世袭贵族），三是功绩勋位（orders of merit)，赐予有重大贡献的人士（英国首相，撒切尔女男爵）。

皇族与贵族的勋衔（peerages)共分五大级，其名称与它们的相对女性称谓如下：公爵Duke(Duchess)、侯爵Marquis(Marchioness)、伯爵Earl(Countess)、子爵Viscount(Viscountess)、男爵Baron(Baroness)。但男爵之下还有从男爵（Baronet)，是世袭爵位中最低级者。

一般只有皇室的至亲（如英王之兄弟、英王之丈夫等）才可获公爵勋衔。公爵在世时，其长子尊为侯爵，以次类推，平民是与此等爵位无缘的。

凡被皇室认为对该国有重大贡献者皆有被册封功绩勋位的可能，该勋位目前有十种。它们是：

Knight Commander of the Order of the Garter(K.G)：嘉德勋位

Knight Commander of the Order of the Thistle(K.T)：蓟花勋位

Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath(C.B)：巴斯勋位

Knight Commander of the Order of the Merit(O.M)：功勋勋位

Knight Commander of the Order of the Star of India(S.I)：印度之星勋位

Knight Commander of the Order of the St.Migheal and St.George(M.C)：圣迷迦勒及圣乔治勋位

Knight Commander of the India Empire(I.E)：印度帝国勋位

Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order(V.O)：维多利亚勋位

Knight Commander of the Order British Empire(B.E)：大英帝国勋位

Knight Commander of the Honour(C.H)：荣誉友伴勋位爵位

受封人正式称呼一般把Sir置于姓名之前，将代表勋位的大写字母列于名后，如John Smith在获得“嘉德”勋位后，便被称为Sir John Smith,K.G.,简称是Sir John,而不用Sir Smith。

有时候，获封爵者没有指定被封哪一种爵位，只称做Knight Bachelor。尊称时，只在姓名后写上K.t(代表Knight)。爵位也有分等级，最高级（第一级）称为Knight Commander,第二级称为Officer,最低级（第三级）称为Companion。最后注意虽然“爵士”和“武士”都称为Knight,但他们的所指相差很大。
